Arizona Gives Day — a statewide online fundraiser for nonprofits — is set for Wednesday.
Donations can be made beginning at midnight and through 11:59 p.m. at azgives.org
Donors can find nearly 1,000 nonprofits across the state to choose fromwhich to choose. Of the 1,000 groups, 150 are in Tucson, said Lauren Schroeder of Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, which along with Arizona Grantmakers Forum created the online donation drive. Nonprofits can also win prizes during the fundraiser.
Donations can be made to organizations including faith-based groups, and groups that concentrate on health and human services, children, animals, arts and education.
Donors can search by a group’s name, category or search by zip code to narrow down nonprofits in your neighborhood, Schroeder said.
The 24-hour online giving initiative encourages and educates donors about supporting nonprofits that better communities, said Clint Mabie, president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.
“This is our Super Bowl of giving and creates excitement and competition on that one day,” Mabie said.
Last year, 8,600 people statewide donated nearly 9,000 to groups, and with matching gifts more than million was raised, Schroeder said.
