2 arrested in Tucson Walmart robbery

Two people wanted in connection with the robbery of a southeast-side Walmart have been arrested.

Lynn Hester Randall, 46, and Raquel Jemming, 43, are facing charges of aggravated robbery and armed robbery. Randall is also facing four counts of aggravated assault, Tucson police said Monday.

Tucson police said on Jan. 4 a man and a woman were caught on a surveillance camera at the Walmart at 2711 S. Houghton Road, south of East Golf Links Road.

The store’s loss-prevention personnel saw the woman conceal items in her purse, said Officer Brandon Tatum, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

She then began to walk with a man by her side out of the store without paying for the items, Tatum said. Store personnel approached the two and the man “pulled out a knife and swung it at three employees telling them not to touch the female,” Tatum said previously.

The pair left in a gold Cadillac.

Detectives found Randall in the Pima County jail on an unrelated case. Jemming turned herself in after seeing surveillance photos of herself in the media, police said

Toddler nearly drowns on Tucson’s SW side

A toddler nearly drowned Sunday afternoon in a backyard pool on Tucson’s southwest side.

Crews from Drexel Heights Fire District responded to the home in the 6800 block of south Paseo de las Aguilas, near Valencia Road and Camino de Oeste, around 4 p.m. and found the toddler next to an in-ground pool, Tracy Koslowski, an agency spokeswoman, said in a news release. A neighbor had performed CPR on the girl, who is almost 2 years old, and she was conscious.

She was taken to the University of Arizona Medical Center. She is in serious condition, and has fluid in her lungs. It is the first water-related incident in the county in 2014.
