A rare event expected to happen Tuesday night when Mars, Earth and the sun will be arranged in a cosmic alignment has created widespread panic among Christians because according to the Bible, the astronomical event is a sign of the apocalypse. The event is known as an opposition of Mars and it occurs about once every 778 days, according to a recent International Business Times report.

As reported by Express on April 7, the special thing about this particular oppositon of Mars is the fact that it comes just a week before we witness the first of four blood moons. This is "an extraordinary event some Christians believe represents the End of Days and the second coming of Christ," Express writes.

The King James Bible predicts that this rare event is a sign of the apocalypse.

Joel 2:31: "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes."

Revelation 6:12-14: "And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood."

Acts 2:20 says: "The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day."

According to information released by the space agency NASA, a highly unusual 'Tetrad' - four successive total 'blood-red' lunar eclipses each followed by six full moons has only happened a few times in the last two millenniums. Incredibly, on each of the last three occasions, it has corresponded with significant religious events.

Seven back-to-back, blood-red moons have fallen on the first day of Passover and Sukkot, with the eighth time coming in 2014 and 2015.

Researchers have discovered that we have had blood-red moons on the first day of Passover and the first day of Sukkot on back-to-back years seven times since 1 A.D. Three of these occurrences were connected to 1492 (the final year of the Spanish Inquisition), 1948 (statehood for Israel and the War of Independence), and 1967 (the Six-Day War) — some of the most significant days in Jewish history.
