Today marks the second day of "Journey Into Nyx" previews on DailyMTG.com. There is no particular order to the previews on the "Magic: The Gathering" site and there is no particular order here as well. With that in mind, here is the next card:
Dictate of Kruphix - 1UU - Rare - Enchantment - Flash. At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player draws an additional card.
The last time we saw "Howling Mine" was in Magic 2010. The times have changed as well as the game of "Magic." With that in mind, "Dictate" is a very interesting card. Let's break it down.
First of all, it's an enchantment. This entire block has been enchantment based and last night players were introduced to a new mechanic known as "constellation" with the purpose of making enchantments more important. This is sure to trigger many effects. Which brings us to the second feature of this card.
"Dictate of Kruphix" has flash. How cool is that? Ideally, a player would cast this at the end of his or her opponent's turn so that you could feel the effects of the spell first rather than your opponent. For an additional mana, the ability to cast it at instant speed is a fair compromise.
The next feature about the card is that it is a blue spell. Control players will love casting this all day long. One deck that comes to mind that may benefit from this card right away is the "Maze's End" deck. A big issue the deck had was drawing cards. It also gives the deck another win condition is drawing it's opponent out of cards.
At three mana to cast, this is a very reasonable spell to play. Expect this to make its debut at the first FNM it is legal to play in.
What do you think of "Dictate of Kruphix?" Will it dictate how you play "Magic" in the future? Let us know in the comments below.
