Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club

Registration 2008-09 PLEASE COMPLETE BY JULY 5, 2008

Welcome to another year of Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club Travel Soccer!

Now that you have been advised of your team placement, it's time for next steps. (If you have not been advised of team placement, please email Karen Fisch, registrar at KarenFisch@aol.com ).

REGISTRATION FEES
You will need to register your child for Travel Soccer and pay the fee. The fee to the club is higher than in previous years, because it is intended to cover many of the fees that previously were collected by your coaches, and it covers the entire year of operating expenses for your child's team. Some of these funds will be used to pay league registration, club expenses, the basic uniform, and specialized clinics. Most of the funds will be given to coaches to pay the operating expenses for the teams.

We have moved to a centralized collection of funds to enable our coaches to return to the reason that they volunteered, which is to coach our children. Many of our coaches were turning into "collection agents", as some families weren't paying their dues.

Our club will collect $550 from B and C teams, and $1100 from "A" teams. The "A" team extra fee goes to cover the cost of a professional coach and additional tournament participation.

As stated in the tryout commitment letter, the dues are not refundable once paid. Exceptional conditions, such as an injury that restricts your child from playing for more than a season will be handled on a case by case basis.

As with all dues, should your family have trouble meeting this financial obligation, you can contact our president, Steven Tatz, confidentially at president@scarsdalesoccer.org . No child is denied the opportunity to play due to financial hardship.

UNIFORMS AND ACCESSORIES
You must decide on the uniform size for your child. All uniforms are available for reviewing and sizing at Scarsdale Sports, 69 Harney Road. Scarsdale Sports (472-6900) is open THIS TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY, July 1 and 2 but will be closed for the rest of July!  Michael Planit is the owner and operator and can help you. Our uniform orders must go into our suppliers by July 5. If you cannot get to the store, just estimate your child's size. Go bigger rather than smaller.
FOR B and C teams, the basic uniform is included in the fee and is a maroon jersey, a maroon short and 1 pair of white socks.
FOR A level teams, the basic uniform is a maroon jersey, a white jersey, a maroon short, and 1 pair of white socks.

There is also an order form for accessories. DO NOT ORDER YOUR CHILD'S BASIC UNIFORM ON THIS FORM. You can access this form on our website www.scarsdalesoccer.org/traveluniforms.htm

ACADEMY SKILLS TRAINING - UPDATED ON JULY 7th 2008
Our Club is moving to "academy" skills training.  This type of training will both enhance our ability to develop our children in soccer technique AND provide our families with more options (two or three days/times) to sign up your child.

(New on JULY 7th 2008) The board has decided to revert to team-oriented practice schedules for teams in the U12 through U14 age groups. This decision was made based on comments received from coaches at all levels in the U12-U14 age groups. The reasons given were that the schedules for the older children are more entrenched, and more difficult to move around flexibly. In some cases, coaches attend the skills practice, which requires that the practice be consolidated to a particular day.

Based on requests from coaches, practices will be defined. If a player cannot attend their team's practice, they should attempt to attend a skills practice for another team in the age group (with the same caveats about practicing with the "A" teams, which do not really have skills practices).

For families with children in the U9 through U11 age groups, please review the options for skills training at our 2008-09 Practice Schedule webpage .  You will need to review available times for this academy skills training, and choose one. Please note: We prepared our training schedule with the input from the Village Recreation Department. If the Village changes their schedule of recreation programs, or if too few children register for a particular practice time slot we will need to change our schedule.

DOCUMENTATION (Picture, Medical Release Form, possibly Birth Certificate)
You need to make sure that your documentation is complete. It is imperative that you have sent a picture and the medical release form to our club secretary, Julia Soning, 402 Mamaroneck Road. The pictures are used for our player passes. We need the medical release to accompany your child wherever he/she goes (training/games, etc). If your child is new to travel soccer, you must include a copy of the child's birth certificate or passport. Questions can be emailed to Julia at secretary@scarsdalesoccer.org .  Detailed instructions can be found at www.scarsdalesoccer.org/playerdocumentation.htm .

DETAILS ON HOW TO REGISTER
When you are ready with your practice time slot AND you have decided on the size of uniform, you can click on the link below.

Log in with your email address. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CREATE AN ACCOUNT unless specifically instructed to do so by your coach. If you have forgotten the email address you previously logged in with, email the registrar at registrar@scarsdalesoccer.org and we will help you (please put your child's full name in the email request). If you have forgotten your password, click "Forgot Password" and the password will be emailed to you.

On the account page, click "Register" to the left of your child's name.
VERY IMPORTANT POINT: If your child is on an "A" team, you MUST register for the "A Level Travel Team Registration" and pay the fee of $1100. If your child is on a B or C team, you MUST register for the "B&C Travel Team Registration" and pay the fee of $550.

The "division" that your child is playing in will come up, and the list of practice times will show up AS THE TEAM. This is a limitation of the system that we are using, but please pick a PRACTICE TIME from the team box.

You can skip the first question, which is just a placeholder to remind you that the TEAM box is filled with the available practice times.

You MUST answer the remainder of the questions.

You MUST complete the registration by FRIDAY JULY 5th for your uniform order to be placed with the supplier. All unregistered children as of July 6 will have their uniforms ordered with generic sizes, and you may have a uniform that is too big.
Are you ready? Here is the link to the registration system:
Good luck and see you out on the fields!
