A motorcyclist speeding in a no-passing zone hit a road sign and died Friday morning, authorities said.
Bradley James Lockhart, 26, was traveling south on North Kolb Road shortly after 10 a.m. when he tried to pass a car near East Ventana Crest Place east of Ventana Canyon Road, said Deputy Tom Peine, a spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
“While passing, another vehicle approached from the opposite direction, which may have caused the motorcyclist to lose control,” Peine said in a news release. “As a result, he hit a speed-limit sign on the southbound side of the roadway. The impact caused fatal injuries.”
Speed is considered a factor in the crash, Peine said. Bradley was not wearing a helmet.
