All late registrants will be placed on the wait list in the first instance. Late registrants will be added to  teams on a first come first serve basis.  No payment will be required until you are notified that a spot is available for your child.  We expect to notify all wait-listed players on or before July 1st as to whether we can offer them a definitive spot for the Fall.  Players offered spots by July 1 will have 24 hours to accept those spots by completing payment.   There are no tryouts for these age groups.

Program Overview

The Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club fields teams that play Sunday games with other area teams in the Westchester Youth Soccer League (“WYSL”).  These are set teams that play on a weekly basis under the supervision of certified trained referees. Scores are kept internally by the league (for future seeding purposes), but at this age level, NO scores are published.  The goal is “playing” not “winning”.

The most important things about playing soccer at this age are sportsmanship, skill development, and children learning how to work as part of a team. This is of paramount importance to our club and league, and is the reason for the league’s sportsmanship program. The program exists at all age groups, but it’s highlighted for our youngest players. There are pins to celebrate player's acts of sportsmanship, and patches and awards for those teams that show exemplary sportsmanship during the season.  Each team is rated by the referees at each game.  Good sportsmanship is expected of the players, parents and coaches. We are ALL expected to be respectful on our fields.

If you have a child who will be an "older second grader" (born before 8/1/2005), you must register for the U9 program.

The Fall and Spring seasons for U-8 and U-9 teams will each be comprised of 8-10 Sunday games.  The games for these age groups will start at noon* or later.  Approximately half of these games are in Scarsdale, and the other half of the games are usually within Westchester, but might be in the Bronx or Manhattan. All teams play in the Westchester Youth Soccer League.

The Westchester Youth Soccer League establishes the game schedule shortly before the season begins.

*While the games for this age group START at Noon or later, your child will be required to be at the field at least 1/2 hour before the start of each game, which may be some distance away. Please plan accordingly.

We do not hold tryouts for U-8 and U-9, so team placement is non-stratified and we will fill teams on a rolling basisWe cannot consider requests for placements with specific friends or coaches.

Registrants will be placed on teams on a rolling basis and wait-listed as teams fill.

Please volunteer as a parent manager/parent assistant coach if you would like to get involved.  All teams need at least 1 parent volunteer.  Please note that  these are full year positions.

All of our travel teams, including our U-8 and U-9 teams, are formed with the intention of making them full year teams.  However, because we often have a number additional players in our youngest age groups who seek to  join the program after the Fall season begins, the club may make move players or reconfigure teams following the conclusion of the Fall season and before the commencement of the Spring season to accommodate new players, maximize playing time, or facilitate player development.

Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club is please to have UK Elite professional trainers for all of our travel teams.  The professional trainers will conduct all team practices, optional skills clinics, and coach League games.

The travel program is design for children who are interested in playing soccer competitively. The professional trainers will help each child develop their skills regardless of their prior soccer experience and ability. UK Elite trainers will provide instruction and skill building programs that are meant to be fun. The goal is to provide a positive soccer experience and to instill a love for the game.

Parent Volunteers: All of our travel teams will be professionally coached and trained.  However, we also need parent volunteers to serve as assistant coaches and managers.  We welcome new coaches and managers. There is a formal process by which we will evaluate all applicants for our coaching and managerial positions. All new coaches and managers must complete an official ($10) background check (in which they are required to enter their social security numbers online), and attend a 2-hour orientation to participate in our league. In addition, all new assistant coaches must attend an 8-hour coaching course (in January or February of 2013), THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THESE POLICIES. If you are interested, please read our coaching responsibilities at

TIME COMMITMENT: Each team will have 2 practices and a Sunday game each week of the season. Practices are at local fields after school.   We understand that some players will have unavoidable conflicts but try to avoid major conflicts that affect large groups of children.  Every family should understand the commitment expected for travel soccer.  Please read the club's Policy on Commitment.

REGISTRATION: Registration for U-8 and U-9 players for the 2013-14 travel soccer is $1250, (there is a $50 late fee which will be automatic).    For information on what is covered by our registration fees please see policies: financial.    The fee does not cover uniforms, tournaments or additional activities that teams may arrange.  If you have a financial concern please email the Club Treasurer to arrange a confidential payment plan or request financial aid.

REFUND POLICY: Refunds and credits generally are not given for any reason.    However, Fall 2013 U-8 and U-9 players may withdraw following the Fall season and receive a partial refund or credit provided that they notify the registrar by email no later than December 1, 2013 that they are withdrawing and request a refund.

When completing your child’s online registration, please be sure to upload a current photo of your child (headshot, passport style) if you have not previously done so.  This photo will be used by the league in July to create a Player’s Pass for your child.  This is important because no child is permitted to play without a player’s pass and the club cannot obtain passes at the last minute.
